Educational Advocacy

Advocating for your child can be stressful, challenging and confusing to say the least.

As a long-time educator and experienced 504 Coordinator, Julia offers Educational Advocacy and Consultation services to support parents in their process toward ensuring that their children receive the appropriate level of social/ emotional and academic support in the school setting.

Julia has expertise in the areas of RTI and 504s, as well as IEP development and the avenues by which students may receive additional testing or Psycho-educational Evaluations.

What is educational advocacy?

Intentional support and education for parents on how to best work in collaboration and partnership with teachers and staff to ensure that their child receives the academic, behavioral, and social/ emotional support that they need in the school setting.

This may take the form of guiding parents through communication with their child’s school, supporting them as they navigate the nuances of testing and assessment to determine their child’s needs, or attending meetings alongside parents to ensure that all stakeholders are on the same page regarding the needs of a child.

Note: While we can help someone understand what services their child is “legally” entitled to, educational advocacy in our practice is not in any way related to actual legal representation. (Aka we are not attorneys.)
